Avantika Bahl
ARTIST
Avantika Bahl is a dance practitioner based in Mumbai where she makes her own work and teaches. She studied at the London Contemporary Dance School and is currently pursuing the Curriculum-in-Motion Certification program offered by Jacobs Pillow, USA for choreographers. She has previously made a full- length work {wonkot} and two short solos, 11048,M81 and Here at the Gati residency and Facets residency respectively. She was commissioned to perform Meandering, a site-specific solo in collaboration with an architect for the opening of ‘When is Space’, an exhibition on Contemporary architecture in Jaipur. She is faculty at Future School of Performing Arts where she teaches Contemporary Dance Technique and Anatomy to the diploma students. She also teaches the professional program for young adults at ICMD, Mumbai. She has also been visiting faculty at Terence Lewis Dance Company, SNDA, SEA, The MA Performance Practice Program at Ambedkar University and the Duende School. In 2017, she began touring with Say, What? a contemporary dance duet choreographed by her and travelled to 11 cities with the same. In December 2018 she premiered Look left, Turn right, a site specific intervention that was commissioned by Serendipity Arts Foundation for their festival. She has a Masters degree in English Literature.
