Kalki Subramaniam is a celebrated transgender rights activist and artist from Pollachi, Tamilnadu, India. She uses art, poetry and performances to tell the untold stories of transgender people who are victims of abuse and gender based violence. She found the Sahodari Foundation through which she has done innovative projects using technology and art as pioneering efforts to revive the dignity of the transgender community this India. The Red Wall project, a community art project visioned by Kalki Subramaniam documents hundreds of transgender persons stories using art, voice and writing. Her fine art exhibitions have been organised in several countries across Europe and North America. She has received numerous awards for her relentless activism and has spoken at such prestigious universities like the Harvard. Kalki currently works with global artists in resisting violence against transgender and non binary persons.
