Nilanjana Nandy

ARTIST

Nilanjana Nandy is a visual artist. She has a MA (Painting) from Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU, Baroda. She has been part of artist in residence program at Pepper House Residency, Kochi Muziris Biennale, 2018; Sandarbh & Black box Project, Khoj Studios. She has received scholarships from Pont-Aven School of Art, France; Junior Fellowship & National Scholarship, Lalit Kala Akademi. Her project COVER-UNCOVER was part of ongoing Five Million Incidents supported by Goethe Institut & Raqs Media Collective. Her work was presented in exhibitions like Critical Constellations by FICA, Bartered Collections by Mumbai Art Room & CONA & Sarai Reader 09. Her project IN-BETWEEN was selected and exhibited as part of Exhibition Proposal Contest 2017 at Korean Cultural Centre, Delhi. She actively collaborates with FICA for their Art for Children Program & has been part of museum outreach programme at NGMA, Delhi. She has collaborated with Asia Art Archive on their ‘Learning at Home Series’ and ‘Learning Paradigm Today’, a workshop for young art educators.
Her practice is essentially drawing based. She is interested in exploring mark making as both a visual and cognitive process. For her art is the means and not the end. She is interested in making books to re-look at them differently both in terms what to read and how to read
