Yogesh Ramkrishna

ARTIST

Yogesh Ramkrishna is a young visual art practitioner from Vadodara. Born in 1991, he completed a Bachelors in Fine Art – Painting from Sir J. J. School of Arts and Masters in Visual Arts in the Graphic Department from M.S. University of Baroda.


His art practice articulates the friction between traditional Indian beliefs and urban Indian life as they come to terms with each other. He questions the role of myths and traditional tales and their role in contemporary modern Indian social reality and instigation of intolerance and violence.


His interest in reading, story collection and travelling helps him to explore various perspectives and concepts with his understanding. Through self-designed projects, he investigates, explores and expresses his concepts and responds in the form of drawings, comics, sculptures, prints and installations.


He represented his art practice in several residencies like the “Kooshk – Cultural Exchange Program” Residency at Tehran, Iran, 2017. “Black Church Print Studio residency” with collaboration of “Irish Museum of Modern Art” Dublin, Ireland-2019. He also had been part of Khoj – Peers Share Program, Delhi- 2016.

His solo exhibition titled, “Don’t believe me! I am telling the Truth!” curated by Satyajit Dave was showcased at the Gallery-Faculty of Fine Arts, M. S. U, Vadodara in 2017. He has also participated in several group shows in Delhi, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad and in Goa.


Currently, he is working as a full time visual art practitioner in the city of Vadodara, Gujarat
