RCA x SAF Senior Artist Residency 2025

Residency Duration
24th February – 23rd May, 2025
About
Building on the success of the inaugural edition, the Royal College of Art (RCA) and Serendipity Arts Foundation (SAF) are proud to announce the second edition of the Senior Artist Residency program. This residency offers an established Indian artist the unique opportunity to spend three transformative months at RCA’s campuses in London. Jointly nominated by both institutions, the selected artist will immerse themselves in RCA’s dynamic academic environment, surrounded by some of the most innovative minds in contemporary art and curation.
Engaging deeply with the MA programs in Contemporary Art Practice and Curating Contemporary Art, the artist will have the opportunity to reflect on and expand their artistic practice, and access to RCA’s cutting-edge facilities and vibrant academic community. The residency also invites the artist to critically examine how their work has evolved over the course of their career and to experiment with new approaches and mediums.
Beyond personal artistic development, the program seeks to strengthen the creative exchange between India and the UK, forging connections that transcend geographical boundaries. At the conclusion of the residency, the artist’s work will be showcased in an exhibition or talk in London, followed by a special presentation at the Serendipity Arts Festival in Goa, where audiences can engage with the artist’s residency experience.
This second edition continues the novel initiative of the first, which saw Sukanya Ghosh as the inaugural resident artist, marking a historic moment in RCA’s legacy by welcoming a South Asian artist to its studio space for the first time. This collaboration remains committed to promoting inclusivity in the arts, addressing the infrastructural challenges faced by artists in the Global South, and opening new avenues for creative practice and dialogue across borders.
BIO
Aditya Pande (b. 1976) is an Indian contemporary artist whose practice merges digital and traditional techniques, creating layered, multidimensional compositions. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad (2001) with a degree in Graphic Design, Pande seamlessly integrates vector drawing, digital photography, ink, acrylic paint, and tinsel in his works. His distinctive process involves both computer-aided technologies and traditional media, resulting in dense, textured surfaces that often extend onto the acrylic covering his artworks.
Pande’s world is inhabited by amorphous characters that swirl, merge, and interact within his dynamic frames, blurring the boundaries between abstraction and figuration. His solo exhibitions have been presented by Nature Morte (New Delhi), Aicon Gallery (New York), Chatterjee & Lal (Mumbai), and Alexia Goethe Gallery (London). His work has also been widely exhibited at institutions such as Kunstmuseum Artemons (Austria), Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (New Delhi), Otto Zoo Gallery (Milan), Centro Cultural Banco do (Brazil), and Bose Pacia (New York), among others.
