Deepak K
ARTIST
Deepak received his Bachelors in Fine Arts from Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Art (CAVA), Mysore (2015), and completed his Masters from M.S. University of Baroda (2017). While at CAVA, Deepak participated in two national workshops. Deepak was a part of Studio Unbound Video Workshop held in Shanti Niketan (2014), and displayed at the Student Biennale, Kochi-Muziris Biennale (2014). Deepak’s work is a continued exploration of the artist’s work with surfaces, drawing, and video. “Lines” deals with the fundamentals of line and form, specifically looking at how a line creates form, as well as the repetitive nature of the process becoming part of the artwork itself. The process of making lines is a meditative exercise for the artist, where the involvement with visual language itself become a conceptual promise of the work, and the works themselves become testimony to a ritual performed day in and day out. Time is an integral part of the process, with the exploration of material becoming of primary importance, not only through the “act” of creating lines, but also the sound that accompanies the making of the lines.
