John Menezes was born in 1965 and brought up in Goa where he resides. Ever since being gifted a SLR camera when just a schoolboy, he diligently set forth exploring this fascinating medium. Without any formal training in photography or art, it was the interaction with other creative people around him – painters, admen, graphic artists, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, architects, writers – that in a way shaped his evolution. Although John majored in Economics, it was his love for image making that saw this self-taught photographer undergo a career change to become involved in photography full-time by taking commercial and editorial work. Over the years, he has been picture editor, studio photographer, trainer, guest lecturer, consultant. Now, he devotes greater time for documentary work and fine-art photography which is a personal interest.
