Shell Craft of Goa

The seashell craft form of Goa, that makes use of shells shed by marine animals to create various souvenirs and utility objects for tourists and locals, dates back to the era of Portuguese occupation. Talented artisans, craftspeople, and sculptors have developed this form to produce ornaments, decor for interiors, chandeliers, lamp shades, jewellery, photo frames, pen holders, etc. The conch shells used in this craft are considered auspicious by many local communities in Goa.
